Opinion Sur Joven

Since the beginning of Opinión Sur Joven in March 2006, we have used this section to inform you of the progress made by this project: its beginning, volunteering opportunities, creation of new sections, launching of the English and Portuguese editions, awards, joint ventures and programs developed from the original idea.

Now, for the first time, we have bad news. Starting in January 2010 we won’t have the financial support that allows us to translate Opinion Sur Joven into English and Portuguese. This is a painful decision, forced upon us by the circumstances that have made 2009 a difficult year for the international economy, and in particular for NGOs whose financing comes from companies and individuals. This has been a hard year for our donors.

Starting in January 2010, this virtual publication will no longer be translated into English and Portuguese, resulting in missed opportunities to connect with young people like us who share our beliefs, but in other languages

Of course, we still believe in the importance of the project and welcome comments and opinions from readers all over the world. However, we are forced to suspend this project until we find funding to support the translations. We are not saying goodbye, but rather, until next time

We are announcing this bad news a few months early because we still hope to turn the tide and find someone willing to help us support our English and Portuguese editions. Each of them costs us US$ 2250 a year. Over the next several months we will increase our efforts to secure funding, and this time we need our readers’ help: personal donations, advertising in our publication and referring us to companies that might be interested in helping us.
