Our vision of the crisis

The global crisis has manifested itself at almost all latitudes. The strategies to overcome it vary according to the diagnosis we do on the causes that originated it. A wrong or incomplete appraisal of facts would lead to deficient interventions. In Opinion Sur we have maintained that although the malfunctioning of the financial system triggered the crisis, this would not have occurred–and all the less with the virulence it unfolded–without the concurrence of other factors that contributed to generate the conditions for such an outbreak. From this perspective, we pointed out that now, not later, is the time to adjust the course and improve our way of functioning.

We have compiled in two e-books a large portion of our articles about the crisis. They are “The Storm of the Century: the Economic Crisis and its Consequences" , by Juan Eugenio Corradi, and “International Crisis: Adjusting the Course and Improving the Systemic Functioning” , by Roberto Sansón Mizrahi. They can be freely downloaded and also reproduced as long as their authors are identified and the site of Opinion Sur (www.opinionsur.org.ar) is mentioned. These e-books are already available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Comments are always welcome. In a couple of months we will be publishing a second phase of both e-books compiling the new articles that, month after month, we have committed to produce.
